“Vania Patrick-Drakes is a registered psychologist in Barbados and a SALISES student at the UWI Cave Hill campus (Faculty of Social Sciences) pursuing a PhD in Social Policy. She is a 

three-time awardee of the Other Universals Consortium – UWI Scholarship, a supra-national scholarship supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation which creates a consortium of scholars across a number of universities in Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. Vania also contributes to the equity, diversity and inclusion field in North America. She presents at seminars and workshops in Barbados and Canada on perceptions and discourses surrounding racism and on how racism and coloniality manifest within various sectors, including health, education, criminal justice and child welfare. Her research interests include bias, racism, social influence, social capital, identity and belonging.”
